My home is a place for all kids to feel safe -- safe to be themselves, safe to explore new things, safe to grow.
I've worked with kids my whole life. My experience (in teaching, childcare, and now parenting) has taught me how to help children learn to communicate their needs, support them with all of their emotions, and keep them safe while having fun. My approach values being kind, caring, nurturing, understanding, and hilarious. My testimonials will highlight the ways in which kids and parents alike find the spaces and experiences I make to be meaningful and comforting. I have lasting bonds with a lot of the kids I have worked with to this day!
I have a cute, warm, little house with lots of creative opportunities. Some important things to know about how your child will experience learning and life in my home:
Your child will have the opportunity to explore things that interest them the most. I use a child-led model of learning, a method that fosters critical thinking skills, independence, a lifelong love for learning, deeper engagement - and more. You can learn more about child-led learning here, here, and here.
Your child will have plenty of space to play indoors and outdoors. Dress-up, painting, music, and stories will always be available. I also have a huge fenced-in yard with plenty of opportunities to tire everyone out and get fresh air.
Your child will use their imagination. One of my specialties is imaginative play. I LOVE to play pretend. I’ve written an e-book about the benefits of when kids play pretend with adults, including working through emotions in a safe environment, practicing social interactions and potential experiences, learning patience, teamwork, and so much communication. Find the e-book here if you’d like to read more!
Your child will get a wide variety of foods. I follow Kids Eat in Color's methods when it comes to meals, and I will, of course, adhere to everyone's dietary needs and restrictions. (One note is that I do have peanut products in my home, and thus this will not be a suitable enviornment for a child with a severe peanut allergy.)
The routine your child will experience here will be tailored around the specific kids that are here and their needs.
I will keep a pulse on each child and how they are learning and changing. Routines, activities and communication may change over time, and I expect and love that.
You will receive updates about your child's days and development from me. When you sign up, let's talk so I know what kind of updates are most interesting and useful to you.
